Avast! slow down system start up considerably

Hi, just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I decided to uninstall Avast! yesterday to see if it could be causing conflicts on my A: (doubtful but definitely something to check out - avast! was not the problem) so I reinstalled it. Generally, without Avast! my system start up took 15-20 seconds, but now with Avast it takes anywhere from 40 seconds - 1 minute. Just wondering why this might be since that is quite long.

Thanks,
-Staind

Fixed with help from bob, thanks.

Hi Staind, I have this same problem but decided to live with it rather than loose Avast, could you please say how you fixed this problem.
Thanks,

I had him do a complete uninstall Of Avast and then a re-install.
Click on the link in my signature and get the Complete Uninstall file.
Hope it helps.

What was the mistery?
Startup of firewall and antivirus togheter?

He didn’t say just said he had a long delay after a normal un-install and the a re-install. So I said to either try a repair or complete unintall and re-install. The re-install method was chosen.

Actually, it seems to have come back. Which is weird. It seems ok then after a few times I restart (I had to restart after iTunes froze) it took the usual time again. Also, another thing I noticed, is that the “connect to ISP” icon always has the windows blue rather than gray which they should be when you’re not connected. Has anyone else noticed this?

Thanks all I will try a repair first.

Staind do you mean the icon next to the clock in the system tray?

Delta

No, on the desktop.

Bump to see if the problem can be solved.
