I just updated my avast premium version program and now i can no longer cast from my laptop to my tv or any other wireless display. The moment i cast, it shows that there is an error but once i disable the antivirus, it connects with ease.
Does anyone know the work around this as i usually cast my laptop screen to an external monitor so that i can view clearly
As you all know, Avast is owned by Gen Digital who also own AVG and Norton.
Recently I got an update to Norton that also disabled Miracast.
There does not seem to be a solution within Norton and it seems to relate to some confusion inside the program between what is a private network and what is a public one. The only remedy so far is to completely remove Norton and revert to Microsoft Windows Defender (a bit drastic!). Reading other forums it appears that Gen Digital is merging Avast, AVG and Norton code.
This may explain the sudden unannounced problems with miracast and apparently other features in these apps also no longer function as users expect.
I guess when enough people complain about it or sales of Norton et al decline then the problem(s) might get fixed. I plan to monitor the Avast, Norton and AVG forums to see if anyone takes notice or if a solution is found. Meanwhile I cross my fingers that Windows Defender is adequate protection. If anyone knows more, please post or point to where I can find a long term solution.
