Avast suddenly stops working today.. and phone help useless

I have been using windows 10 since it came out … and then I bought avast for a better antivirus…

today there was an update to avast and the firewall went down and I couldn’t restart it…

after an hoof fighting to get it to work and trying a new reinstall I called your so called support .

after A LONG time online I got someone telling me that IT is the OS that is at fault for this the it is all about windows 10 and wouldn’t listen to me (or couldn’t comprehend me as he obviously didn’t speak english as a first language) ande THEN hung up on me when i asked for someone else …

all I can say is i want a refund if this is how you treat your paying customers

avast firewall on Win10 is usually fixed if you reboot 2-3 times

if not … controlpanel > ad/remove programs > avast > uninstall/change > next popup box have a repair option …

i assume any previous used AV is fully removed using vendors removal tool !

You did not called avast, but a third party company.

I DID call avast support number THEIR site supplies 877-249-6406…

I also tried the repair tool BUT that ended up messing up my protocols for my internet connection …

the only way to fix it all was a full uninstall of avast and reinstall…

HEY this kind of thing DOES happen but the customer service they offer IS absolutely pathetic and I WILL NOT be paying again for their subscription for anything and as soon as my present sub is up I will be searching for a new antivirus and firewall which is sad as I have used Avast for 4 years or so (maybe more as I had it when I used windows xp

The support number is a third party as has been explained numerous of times already.

There is no repair tool for avast.
There is a uninstall tool (which does not remove everything) and there is a repair option (which often solves problems)

Richard, I suggest an installation from scratch:

  1. Download the latest version of Avast Uninstall Utility and save it.
  2. Download the latest Avast version and save it.
  3. (Optional) If you want, save your Avast settings for later restoration (Settings > Maintenance > Back up).
  4. Uninstall Avast from Control Panel (if possible) and reboot.
  5. Run the Avast Uninstall Utility saved on 1 in and follow the instructions. Reboot Windows in Safe Mode, uninstall Avast and then reboot in Normal Mode again.
  6. Install Avast using the setup saved on 2. Register your free copy or add the license key for the paid versions. Boot.
  7. Check and post the results.

Please, be patient, boot when it’s said to boot…

Lisandro,

the problem already seem to be solved.

the only way to fix it all was a full uninstall of avast and reinstall..

Sorry and thanks
