Avast Support

I could not Login to my account after the update yesterday so I called what I hope was Avast Support. The guy said that there was a software password on my account and that he would have to have access to my PC to fix it. He also said that there would be a $179.00 to do it. I told him that I will just restore an Image From the day before and he said that would not work. I then told hime that I will just go to the CP and either do a modify or a repair . He said that this cannot be done from the control Panel. I then told him well go ahead and do it. He again brought up the fee. I told him that I will just go to the Avast Forum and he was not in favor of me doing that.
I then told him that he was a moron and some other names.
I don’t think that this guy was even a Tech for Avast as I knew more about the product than he did which we also argued about. I hope this guy was not connected with Avast because if he is, I will stop using it when my subscription expires. He also bad mouthed Windows 10 and said that while he was in my PC he would remove MS’s firewall and Defender.
Now the real problem is that if this guy is a fake, he now has my name, phone number and email address.
I hope someone with authority can read this post as I am a tad concerned. I also will NEVER call Avast Support ever again.

this has been posted a million times … phone support goes to a third party company

avast support https://support.avast.com/support/home

Ticket support (to avast) https://support.avast.com/support/tickets/new

There is also a mail address where you can complain about the third party support … i will post it if i find it

So this was legit? If so I am done with Avast after my subscription expires, or I will just come here for support. The guy obviously does not know the product.

If so I am done with Avast after my subscription expires......
