Avast system tray icon

Last 2 versions have broken remove/show system tray icon setting. Ticking/unticking check box used to restore/remove icon instantly. Now requires computer restart. Am using Windows 10.

I find that you only need to log off and on again.

There is a whole other thread on this already: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=185753.0

But yeah i noticed that to, and well i think they should put some indication that your pc will need to restarted for this change to take effect like Show avast icon (reboot needed) and such.

That thread is about icon not rotating. There is one reply in 6 pages that mentions icon now requires restart or log off.

The problem is that it functioned normally for years, now it does not.

I prefer the icon not showing and rely on realtime Avast. Much simpler. Any rare adjustments just required 3 or 4 clicks to bring up icon. Now it requires 3 or 4 clicks and a restart/log off. This is much more inconvenient.

Personally I don’t think that it needs a restart (or logging off and back on) to have the change take effect. These however, have worked for others, but I believe that is possibly overkill.

There are many settings in avast and most of them are shield related settings in most cases I have found that stopping and restarting the related Shield is sufficient.

To that end I think you could try disabling avast for 10 minutes, but then immediately enabling the shields.

To disable/enable shields you need the icon!

Edit:OK, so you can enable/disable shields from UI, but still requires reboot/logoff!

Edit: Is this the NEW standard behaviour for this setting or a bug? Seems like a bug to me. It’s certainly not an improvement.
