How long do they normally take to het back to you?, I have submitted a support ticket I need this problem sorting out quickly.
It isn’t normally too long, but in all honesty these forums are pretty fast as there are people her almost 24/7.
If your problem is one that isn’t confidential you could ask your question here.
You can ask for support here, we might be able to help if we have some discription of the problem and your system information including any other security installed on the system.
Ive sent this to support a day ago, but no response. My email is lesslaw2000@gmail.com. please, just let me know where to look for your answer on here.
I have tried to uninstall so I could reinstall but when I try to download
http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear.exe it tells me to go to settings and disable defense, which
I do, but then I get an error saying the the defense module is still enabled. I go back and sure enough
it is enabled, so I disable again but keeps turning itself back on, thus not letting the uninstall program
to work.
When I do a search with windows 7 I find numerous left over items and also the Icon is still in my
task bar. Xed out of course because of no protection.
I just want to simply completely uninstall and reinstall. Love the program but Im wanting to get it
completely off my PC so I can do a new reinstall.
PS I still have my earlier Avast application on my PC. Would it be OK to try and reinstall with that?
Would it override maybe?
Im using win7 with FF.
thanks

I know you guys are really smart.
Can you please let me know what to do?
Please help if You can asap. I cannot even restore because it says cannot restore due to a virus
program running, but Avast does not even show up in the uninstall programs. I did uninstall but that is
why Im hoping you can help me. Seems to have just done a partial uninstall. Crazy. I have no antivirus
going now.
I don’t want to have to do the whole OS again. Just reinstalled win7 last week.

lesslaw2000 you should have really started a new topic of your own rather than hijacking someone elses thread but to answer your question you need to run the aswclear.exe tool in “safe mode” for all versions of avast you have installed in the past.
This should be in its own topic, as it is hijacking this topic, should you need any further help outside of the information given, please start your own ‘new topic.’
I would remove your email address unless you are partial to spam, the forums are publicly available and the email could be harvested.
Where you downloaded that file, gives instructions to run aswclear.exe from safe mode, avast won’t be running so no self-defence module to block the uninstall utility.
Clean reinstall instructions:
-
Download the latest version of avast, 7.0.1456 http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again (if you didn’t save your last download). Use that when you reinstall.
-
Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, aswClear.exe find it here and save it to your HDD (it has uninstall tools for 5.x, 6.0.x and 7.0.x).
-
- Now uninstall avast! (using add remove programs, if you can’t do that start from the next step), reboot.- 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility from safe mode, first for 6.x if previously installed and then for 7.0, once complete reboot into normal mode.- 3. install the latest version, reboot.
