Avast-Tray-Icon is spinning ... but what is the activity?

Avast-Tray-Icon is spinnig – and the PC is slow because of that … but opening the Avast-User-Interface I am told that all is OK …

What the hell is Avast doing? ? ? How to find out what Avast is doing? ? ?

NB: Program: 2014.9.0.2021; Virus Database: 141013-0; OS: WinVista32

Btw: while writing all this (on a different PC) the Tray-Icon on the Vista-PC is still spinning – for over 5 minutes now …

Btw: I really love Avast 4.8 with the possibility to show all activities in the separate appearing window in the right lower corner of the screen!

Windows update, widows indexing… anything that moves is checked by avast real time

… what else it might be… but why can’t I see what it is – as in Avast 4.8?
