Avast Turned Off At Start-Up

When first loading Windows, the Avast tray icon indicates it’s been turned off, and Windows puts up a warning bubble that there’s a problem with my anti-virus. Within a minute or two, Avast seems to have turned itself on, the tray icon returns to normal, and the warning bubble disappears. This is using AVAST 7 with Windows Vista.

Anyone know what’s up? Is this a bug? Or has my computer been compromised in some way?

Any other security program, firewall or antivirus installed now or in the past in the computer?
Which is your avast version?

AVAST is version 7.0.1407.

Spybot: Search&Destroy is also installed.

Standard built-in Windows Vista firewall.

I really suggest you got 7.0.1414 (or RC2) and test. Some issues (important) were addressed.

Also, just a recommendation:

Spybot S&D do, in rare cases, cause conflicts. A better substitute antimalware would be Malwarebytes Antimalware.

*EDIT: Fixed wording.

You can disable SpyBot Search & Destroy’s TeaTimer module which is the resident part. That will remove any possible conflict. See http://www.safer-networking.org/en/howto/disable.html.

MalwareBytes Antimalware will find and deal with more malware. I use SpyBot Search & Destroy for it’s passive protection; hosts, ActiveX blocking, Restricted IE sites, etc. I do run an occasional scan with it and MBam, but so far neither has found anything.
