I had the old Avast free running on my pc (Windows XP) for over a year with no problems running scans. Since the new version 8 was installed, and still with Version 8.0.1483, whenever I click the scan button I immediately get the error report: “Avast.UI.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close” and the option to send or not send the error report to Microsoft. There’s a debug button on this notification but nothing happens when I click it.
I’ve tried to launch scans after disabling my ZoneAlarm firewall, but still no luck. I’m not very computer savvy but I get some vibe that Version 8 doesn’t like my firewall in some way.
Any help for me? I loved Avast before the upgrade but I do want to be able to scan my elderly pc.
