Avast uninstall process

First of all, I by no means want any product like this to fail and I wish success to every single one unless they are, in my opinion, morally corrupt.
The very first anti-virus program I’ve ever used was Kaspersky back in the early 2000s, which was not to my taste, quickly switched to AVG until finally settling with Avast.
I had used Avast for a great number of years but ultimately found anti-viruses obsolete with the introduction of Win10, more accurately, the job they do does not outweigh the resources they pull.
All in all, I still had huge respect for Avast, being my favourite go-to anti-virus program if you have to use any, until I’ve encountered an unignorable issue.

Today, I updated a program which had sneakily installed free avast anti-virus onto my system. Usually I do not get duped by such programs, but this one was super sneaky.
The fact that you rely on such shady tactics to push the free avast anti-virus program tells me how far you’ve fallen. This is even understandable compared to the fact that you can’t exit the avast program, the tray icon nor the program itself has an option to shut it down. I couldn’t even end its process in the task manager. I swallowed that and went to uninstall the program the normal way native to the Windows operating system. That was unsuccessful. I realized that you have to download a separate program which advises you to enter safe mode in order to fully remove the program.

If there is something that disgusts me it is - shadily pushing the program, inability to fully control it (close it), and unable to easily uninstall it.
Using these pathetic tactics to make ordinary people keep your program is so low that you make me sick to my stomach. I thought you are better than this.
Suffice it to say I’m going to keep everyone far away from your products. You disappointed me so much I opened an account to post this…

Was it CCleaner ?

Good to know - kind of strongly forced installation… >:(

Yes, it was. And the checkbox was in form of an ad-like feature which I completely ignored.
If I go into “Customize” and then to even further with “More”, I expect to be presented with all the choices when installing. Those features are made for exactly that - choosing what and where to install.
