Avast Update - Unknown Error

Was told to repost here with logs per Rednose’s request.

I’ve never had this error before but keep getting it today (everything was working fine just yesterday). I am trying to update virus definitions and it keeps throwing this “unknown error” at me. I’ve tried repairing but that didn’t do anything. I want to do a clean install but for some reason, when I go to the website to DL the client, it says “server not found.” Is anyone else having this issue? Is avast having server issues? I tried for a few hours to make this post already but the login was screwed up too (wouldn’t load). Finally decided to work now I guess. Any ideas?

Also, I don’t know if it’s related, but I am having trouble with updating GOG (game organizer like Steam) and also can’t go to its website either because “server is down.” Very strange coincidence…

I am on W10 anniversary edition. Avast is version 12.3.2280.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Update: I ran a boot scan after I posted the logs and everything seems to be running fine now (Avast updated fine without that “unknown error” message and I can go on Avast and GOG websites again).

I am not sure what it found, if anything, as I was away when it was scanning. Is there a log for boot scans and should I attach that as well? If yes, where can I find the boot scan log?

By what you describe, I would say your ISP had a problem.

Maybe, but I am not so sure. Other websites worked perfectly fine. I also tried the Avast and GOG websites on another PC and they worked fine too. But when I ran Malwarebytes and Avast, they would come up clean so I wasn’t sure if it was malware (or if malware can even cause such problems?).

Again, the boot scan seems to have fixed things for the time being, but can an expert look through my log files for further reassurance? Are there any experts available at this time?

Have some patience, when one of the listed people is around and has the time (s)he will have a look at the logs.

a few week ago my ISP did maintenance and most sites still worked fine but access steam or facebook was hit and miss and a small handfull of other sites untill the maintenance was finished.

Interesting. Did you try another computer like I did and find those websites working on that computer but not the other? That’s the issue I had.

Also, did it prevent you from updating your Avast virus definitions (i.e. unknown error)?

At the time of My ISP maintenance my mother was complaining about not been able to connect to facebook to play her games yet i could connect just fine.

About the avast update error i dont know as i let avast handle all of that automatically, its very rare i go into the settings to check for updates
