Avast user interface popped up without me clicking (please read details)?

(To all moderators: please do not cancel this post, as this is a new and recent issue, so I felt a new post was appropriate.)

Good day, fellow Avast-users. Let me start by giving you specifications. Please read everything in this post carefully and slowly to avoid overlooking any information.

1) Program type: avast! Free Antivirus 2015
2) Program version: 10.4.2233 (This is followed by the words “In memory of Jan Koubek”)
3) Computer type: HP Compaq with duo-core processor and 2 GBs o
4) Operating system: Windows 7 Professional
5) Primary browser: Google Chrome (run inside of Sandboxie)

Special note (not necessarily related to issue): Okay, for those who don’t know, Sandboxie is not an antivirus. It’s a software designed to isolated programs from the rest of your system so any malware a program encountere online will be contained inside of that virtual space called the “sandbox”. Sandboxie is used by many people to browse the internet more safely. And I had an issue with avast before I even started using Sandboxie. My sister uses Sandboxie and Avast together without any issues that I know of.

Past issue: at least three times in the last month and a half, the avast! user interface simply stops working. It won’t open or respond to any of my clicks, and neither will the avast! desktop icon. I’ve tried going to uninstall/change and selecting “repair” for avast!, but that did nothing it seems. This problem has led to me having to re-install Avast twice. Avast works normally 98% of the time. I also have Malwarebytes, not conflicting with Avast, and I have used both to scan my computer regularly. My scans always come back clean. Re-booting, for now, has solved the issue, but today something else happened.

The current issue: My computer has been functioning normally, but today, I unintentionally fell asleep with my computer on. Before I was asleep, the only programs were Skype. (My task manager was open too, as I frequently check it to see what uses memory and CPU.)

Whenever I woke up about 3 hours later, however, I noticed that the Avast user interface was open and it was on the account log-in screen. It also said something about not being able to connect to the internet. I did NOT open the Avast interface before I went to sleep. It happened on its own. I do not have automatic update for Avast on. After this, when I tried to go to Facebook, Google Chrome would not load the webpage, and about 20 seconds later, Avast said that it blocked Facebook because it was detected as malware (something similar to that). But now it’s letting me access Facebook without issue and normally.

Can anyone tell me what’s going on and what steps to take for resolving this? Thank you.
