I have an Asus Netbook 1005P, running Windows 7 Starter, SP1, with Avast Antivirus Free.
On the new “Avast Free” User Interface its “Settings” button is not available because the dialog box is now set too large for my computer’s screen. My computer is a Netbook so its viewable area is not quite as large as that of Notebook (laptop) or Desktop computers.
You can see what the Avast User Interface screen should look like when fully visible and with its “Settings” button (located right down at the bottom-left), here: https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB16
It is not possible to do either “Restore Down” nor use any “resizing-handles”, for the Avast User Interface screen.
My computer’s screen is set to a normal 1024 x 600 which is the maximum resolution available (and also I would not wish any higher resolution anyway, since this would cause everything to be too small on the screen).
I want to be able to examine, and if necessary configure, the Avast “Components”, and so I need the Avast “Settings”.
Is there a solution to this issue other than removing Avast?

For now, Right click on the avast tray icon and select about avast, that actually opens the Settings window (at the about avast section), you can then access the other Settings options.
Avast are meant to be working on an auto resize for the avastUI so it would fit on the screen resolution used. Me I think this is to damn complex and I can’t understand the reluctance to let the user resize their own avastUI on their own screen/s.
There is also a hack to be able to change screen resolution I did that on my Acer Aspire One, Win7 Starter (32bit) 10.1", 1024X600 screen. It allows you to switch to a higher screen resolution, do what you need and switch back to the native screen resolution. But you may want to wait for the avast update, rather than use the hack.
I was happy to find this thread, and therefore find the “settings” via right-click.I do think the updated UI leaves something to be desired if I have to search for something that was previously easy to find.
I have the same issue with the UI being too large for my screen, which is a rather large LG, set at native resolution, and am anxiously awaiting the fix for that.
