I have been using Avast free version and pro version Anti Virus for over 7 years. I have never had any issues or major virus problems. I love the product. But recently I got a new gaming computer which is running windows 8. When I start my computer up and load windows avast isn’t on and doesn’t turn itself on. I never knew it was off until I go to scan a file I have downloaded. It says avast not running as system service. I checked in system services and it says on and active. When I click the avast desktop icon it loads and all the program starts working. I tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling it but it doesn’t fix the problem. Avast works great after clicking the desktop Icon and will stay on unto I shut down my computer or reboot. I searched the forum but found no one having this issue. Avast works fine after I click the Icon. What seams to be making this happen? I have been working on computers since the late 80’s so I am not knew to technical problems. Butt this sure has me baffled. I thought about putting a short cut in the startup folder but thought this is silly. Avast shouldn’t be doing this.
- Which version…??
- OS…?? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP…?)
- Other security related software installed…??
- Which AV did you use before avast!..??
Windows 8 64 Bit
8 GB of ram
No Service pack installed (not available yet)
I had Norton Internet Security but uninstalled it. It came with the new computer.
I have no other security software installed but I use super anitispyware and Advanced System Care.
I am using Start Menu 8 from Iobit.
I am sorry I didn’t reply to the post sooner. As I need to change when someone posts to get a email.
Also another note I use windows 8 mostly in desktop mode with a occasion use of radio player in the tile screen.
Since my opening the thread I put a shortcut to avast in my startup folder and the UI loads and I close it and it’s working but think this
is very redundant.
- Which avast!..?? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
- Which version…??
