avast virus cleaner removel tool?

i cant find the uninstall file
the thing keep pop up n make my pc very very slow n lag
how do i remove this tool?
fatal error will pop up like the picture shown

It’s not fatal error, you’re just running the same tool twice (read what error says).
This tool also doesn’t run by itself unless you run it.

im not running it
its poping out by itself

Welcome to the forums, hiccups.

Have you restarted your computer since this happened?

yes i have restarted few times
i cant seem to find the uninstall in add/remove programs
where is it located?

I’m not very good on the technical side of things, but I believe that the Removal Tool is an application, and as such doesn’t install itself - it just ‘runs’. Because it doesn’t install itself, it therefore cannot be (and doesn’t need to be) uninstalled.

The anti-virus cleaner is as Graham said a stand alone executable file, it doesn’t require installation, so by the same logic doesn’t require to be uninstalled. But, it does need to be launched, this is usually manually but I guess you could be run using task scheduler or placing a shortcut in the startup folder.

Did you set this in any way to run automatically ?
When does it run (directly after boot, at a particular time, etc.) ?

no i didnt set it to start up
it just runs when i on the pc

Go to your hard drive and find “aswclnr” and delete it. This should stop the problem.

where is it located?
i tried using search but nothing

The only aswclnr I found is in the avast folder. One is a text file and the other is an html document. There is also a dll. but these are bundled with avast.

As the others said it shouldn’t start on it’s own. Did you visually check your task scheduler? startup folder?

When you downloaded it, where did you save it to?

If as you say ‘it just runs’ I asked:
“When does it run (directly after boot, at a particular time, etc.) ?”

The answer to this question could help us pin down what is making it run as it simply can’t run of its own volition.

Places to check, Task Scheduler, MSCONFIG (startup tab), Startup folder shortcut to run aswclnr.exe.

ussualy it starts upon switching on the pc
and keeps popping up everynow and then
for the past 5min
after that should be fine
the task is empty so is the startup
the task sheduler is in the control planel right?

Not sure if it’s the same, but in win98se, task scheduler is in system tools.
Start button>programs>accessories>system tools.

Startup folder…Startbutton>programs

You checked msconfig startup tab?

Start button>run type msconfig

How about right clicking the taskbar? Select properties, Start Menu programs tab, advanced.

This is on win98se, it may be different in xp.

If it starts just after boot then there has to be a run entry in the registry (usually seen in the msconfig, startup tab) or a shortcut in the startup folder (C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Start Menu\Programs\Startup).

If it starts at another time that would normally be as a result ot a Scheduled Task, in XP check, Control Panel, Scheduled Tasks.

You could one do a search of your HDD for the file aswclnr.exe and rename it to aswclnr_old.exe. That should stop it being run as the run command would be for aswclnr.exe, the problem is you might get an error about the file being missing as the run command would still be executed.

You can also do a registry search, Start, Run, type regedit and click OK, now do Edit, Find and enter aswclnr.exe uncheck the Keys, Values boxes leaving only the Data box checked as that is wher the reference to aswclnr.exe would be. When/if you find let us know where it is, you can copy the Key path.

here is where i found it
and i changed the exe to old exe

Are you sure, it seems a really strange place inside a sub key of the Search Assistant key ?

It looks like it has been searched for previously and those are just retained values you searched for, but are not indicating the location of the file and a run command for aswclnr.exe to run.
