We are pleased to announce the release of Avast VPN 26.18.0 for Android/Google TV.

1. What is the version number of this release?: 26.18.0 Build 261009951.

3. What are the changes in this release?

  • User-facing changes/updates: UI revamp

    • This new version offers a refreshing TV experience with a fully revamped user interface, an updated platform foundation, and QR code activation for easier setup. The rollout is staged, so availability will expand gradually to existing users.

    • The app has been developed with a minimalistic view to navigate smoothly and with ease of use.

      • Users can perform the following actions,

        • Change VPN regions

        • Access frequently selected regions.

        • Sign-in & Sign-out from the App.

        • Check the App version.

        • Access help & support.

    • Currently, the app does NOT have the options (settings) to change/switch the VPN Protocol, or any advanced VPN features like Auto-connect, Pause VPN, Double VPN, IP Rotations, City-level regions, etc.

    • Onboarding flow changes: Updated Sign-In Flow: The latest version of Avast VPN for Android TV uses a QR code to simplify sign-in through a mobile device.

      • Install and launch the Avast VPN app on the TV.
      • A QR code is displayed on the TV screen.
      • Scan the QR code using an iOS or Android mobile device.
      • Tap the short link displayed on the camera screen of the mobile device.
      • The link redirects the user based on the mobile device:
        • If Avast VPN is already installed, the user is redirected directly to the Avast VPN app.
        • If Avast VPN is not installed, the user is redirected to the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, depending on the device, to install the app.

    • If prompted, the user signs in to Avast VPN on the mobile device.

    • After sign-in is complete, the TV app signs in seamlessly.

  • Background improvements to performance and stability.

  • Minor bug fixes and other small enhancements.

4. How to obtain this new version:

  • Download from your account: Open Google Play Store and search for Avast VPN: Fast Proxy, Privacy, and download the latest version from there.

  • Automatic update rollout: If you’re an existing user, the update is being rolled out automatically in phases. It will install on your device once it becomes available for your account.
