Avast VPN not connecting

i’ve been using a paid subscription for premium security and VPN across 5 devices, for over a year. i recently renewed the service for another year. a few days ago my VPN stopped automatically signing in, and when i went to the Avast SecureLine VPN page and hit the red button but it immediately toggled from red to green and back to red, signifying off. i can’t turn it on, even though i’m paying for it. and my macbook is already showing signs of vulnerability. please help. thanks.
