Avast VPN? Why the network inspector doesn't detect 3rd party VPN's

I use a well known VPN, but Avast insist I use ONLY their VPN, it seems when someone already has a VPN and installs Avast, they expect you to dump what you use in favor of the Avast VPN, but what should happen, is the network inspector should detect a 3rd party VPN and say something like this:

“A VPN has been detected, this is great, your data is not only secure, but is also private, well done”, but instead, when the network inspector is run, I get “Your data is secure but not private, by using Avast VPN, you can keep your data private.”

So, what makes Avast VPN any different to other VPN’s? Nothing, they all do the same thing, (I’m talking about paid versions of course). It’s a matter of Avast getting richer by the minute by telling you their products a far superior to anyone else’s, and that you should dump anybody else’s software in favor of theirs.

So, as a suggestion, Avast/AVG should allow the network inspector to detect 3rd party VPN’s and ONLY suggest using their VPN if a VPN has not been detected.

Yes logic of this is up the creek.

I use Avast Free and don’t use a VPN and not a peep out of Avast Free. I suspect it is making the suggestion so you purchase the Avast VPN and not an indication that it is better.

I would examine your Avast Settings > Personal Privacy, Offers and possibly the Notifications options in relation to 3rd party apps, etc.

The original poster is sort of correct David where avast does not recognise any other make of vpn except its own so bombards us with what i class as spam adverts. I dont think the intention is to ONLY use avast though.
I agree it should be similar to microsoft where it changes to avast instead of the microsoft anti virus in use.
I get the same on multiple of occasions with the usual adverts of buy this add on and buy that. Ive used Nord for almost 5 years and still get the same privacy issue warnings popup adverts which mentions you need a vpn blah blah blah Scare Tatics - #3 by MrDJ
When avast first released its vpn i did try the trial and it slowed my connection down by a lot. i then tried nord with no speed change what so ever. after the 2 years i then tried Norton free with BT but soon changed back to nord for another 3 years. Now Norton is part of the Avast/AVG since 2022 we can all see by the many posts that support has gone to pot and the adverts have increased.

I use ProtonVPN, as it is part of Proton Mail, Drive, calendar, etc, and there’s not many VPN’s that can say they have a bundle like that really cheap too, and as someone suggested I set the ads settings in the Avast privacy settings, I don’t have any ads showing as I use silent mode, but the ‘Buiy Avast VPN’ ad only appears after I initiate the Network Inspector.
