Avast warning when Chrome new tab is clicked

Hi everyone,

I’m using Avast free, and I also use the Chrome browser with the ‘Metrotab’ extension (this extension arranges your bookmarks in the style of the Windows 8 desktop).

Since yesterday, whenever I open a new tab in Chrome, a popup appears in Avast saying the webshield has blocked a harmful file or web page.

The details of this virus are:

URL: hxxp://hao.newtabplus.com/ip.json.php?ui_locale=en_GB&source=metro&MTime=1418280000&code=1393491
Infection: JS:Decode-AHP [Trj]

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this, and if it’s a genuine virus? Yesterday I performed a Malware scan which removed about 20 items, but this issue still exists.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for your time,

Lylio

UPDATE - when I disable the Metrotab extension, the issues appears resolved, so that’s clearly the problem. I’ll try reinstalling Metrotab, see if that works.

Thanks again,

Lylio

I have the same problem!!!

I’m using X New Tab Page (extension) and I also receive a warning of Avast, it says “Red has been detected”, see below:

I love this extension but what should I do, how can I solve this problem???
