avast web scanner has encountered a problem. send report

I have a pop-up window every few minutes the states the web scanner has encountered a problem and needs to close. Then asks me to send a report. This has been going on for severl days. Do I just ignore it or is it a problem?

No… we net to troubleshoot it.
Check the folder \data\log
Are there any files called unpXXXX there (where XXXX is a random number)?
If so, send them to vlk (at) avast.com
They may contain more information about the problem (maybe a link to this thread).

Did you have any other antivirus in this computer before avast?
Any security program that could interfere?

Don’t ignore it, when asked to send a report, there is an option to view what is going to be sent. Select that option, it may also point to a data file for the information, etc. Copy that information and past it here.

Can you send these files to vlk [at] avast [dot] com for analysis?

This is the real culprit, ntdll.dll, which isn’t an avast file, the ashMaiSv.exe just happened to be using it when it caused the problem.

See http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000960.htm for info on ntdll.dll.

The issue is what version of ntdll.dll do you have it is important that you have the latest as previous versions were vulnerable to attack.

What is your OS ?
Is it fully up to date ?
Does this happen frequently or is this the first time it has happened ?
