Avast Web Shield keeps reporting blocked URL

Hi,

I have a windows 7 laptop running Avast and it keeps displaying messages that it blocked a harmful webpage or file. When the messages pop up I am not even using my browser. It says (Infection URL:MAL and process = c:\Windows\syswow64\dllhost.exe . It appears to be trying to connect to some web site like fff5ee.com and then a bunch of other stuff after that. Here is what I have done so far to try and fix it:

  1. Ran Avast full system scan
  2. Ran Malwarebytes
  3. performed a system restore to a date I thought was good and then did number 1 and 2 again.
  4. Ran AdwCleaner
  5. Ran spybot Search and Destroy

After running all these programs and cleaning what they found I am still getting the webshield pop up. At this point I am not sure what else to do to correct this problem. Any assistance you could provide me would be appreciated.

Thanks,
David

In that instance I would recommend that you disable Java in your browsers until you need it for that software and then enable it. (See How to diasble Java in your web browser and How to unplug Java from the browser)

If you do need to keep Java then download JavaRa
Run the programme and select Remove Java Runtime. Uninstall all versions of Java present
Once done then run it again and select Update Java runtime > Download and install Latest version
