avast web shield problem

When my avast web shield turned on i can access only to a secured web sites with https only.

  1. What product and version of Avast do you have? Was this an upgrade or clean install of Avast? If an upgrade, what was the prior version?

  2. What is your OS, 32 or 64-bit?

  3. What other security software do you currently have or did you have in the past on this machine including:

  • Antivirus (AV)

  • Firewall (FW)

  • Trial versions of AV, FW and other security programs

  • Other security software

  • If they were in the past, how did you remove them (the vendor’s uninstaller’s tool or another way)?

I’m using avast 5 pro
Program version 5.1.889
I am using windows 7 ultimate 32bit
the problem started this morning then i turned on pc and I allways used avast

There have been other recently posting on the forum with Win7. Did this just start happening after a recent update?

I think so. This morning i had update before trying to browse the internet.

You can try an Avast Repair:

  • Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > Avast Antivirus.
  • Scroll down and choose Repair function in the pop-up window.
  • Reboot.

If this fails to fix the problem, wait for the next Avast update. If you are still having problems, please report back and we can troubleshoot more.

Didn’t worked.

The Repair didn’t work. I suspected it wouldn’t.

Can you also try the WinsockFix Utility for Windows 7 – http://windows7themes.net/winsock-fix-for-windows-7.html to see if this fixes your problem. Reboot after running this.

I believe Avast is working on it’s next update so you might want to see if this fixes your problem if the above does not fix it.
