I noticed that avast isn’t blocking link’s in opera, but it does block them in IE. for example: hxxp://clicktotweet.com. can anyone confirm this link is/isn’t blocked in opera?
as far as I know, opera is also supported by avast. I looked trough the settings in opera/avast but found nothing. is there anything I can do?
using latest versions of avast & opera.
I visited that link, and avast blocked it. I am also using Opera, version 10.63, and avast free 5.0.677. Tried also with IE8, and avast blocked it. Maybe someone can comment about your (avast/opera) settings?
By the way… I think it can be a fp, because only avast! blocks it (VirusTotal).
Sorry for this off-topic post.
Hello,
I think it’s not FP. See image below.
Milos
so it’s something wrong with my avast or opera settings? can’t imagine what, all settings are default.
Checked with Opera/avast!5 free and blocked instantly. According to the notification the infected page is xxxx.com/.gzip what have you set for Packers in Webshield?
Well by default the all packers option is checked.
However, in this case it is the obfuscated script tag at the bottom of the page in Milos’s image that is the trigger and that shouldn’t rely on the packer settings.
the alert is about a script. and on opera there are no alerts, only on IE (which I don’t use at all).
The alert is on the obfuscated script inserted into the page, that otherwise would try to run the .php of the site in Milos’s image. If avast’s mail shields doesn’t block that inserted script tag in the page then the network shield should block access to the malicious site.
Why it isn’t alerting on the inserted script tag when you are using Opera (yet does for others) is beyond me and I don’t use Opera so can’t check.
The alert is still there and the web shield is alerting on it for firefox and interestingly now firefox safe browsing is also flagging it as an attack site, image1. There is still the loading of a packed javascript file, image2.
I’m getting an alert in Opera as well as in IE. Don’t you use a fullscreen mode in Opera?
no full screen mode. i’ll try to uninstall opera, clean the registry and reinstall. maybe that will help. i’m reluctant to do this, as all settings will be gone, but can’t think of something else.
LE: did reinstall, still the same situation.
