I Install version of Avast avast4.7 home and I´m also using Zone alarm FREE version. When Installing was process I show notice that there´s some problem with ZA and Avast! and Avast asked me if I want set some modules offline from ZA until the problem is solve with ZA so I click NO.
Then now I have been running a Avast!4 Home/ZoneAlarm (ZA) FREE configuration on my XP Pro (SP2).
But there’s a BIG PROBLEM.
I´m using Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0 browser and when I surf in Internet my computer, after a while (2 or 3 pages), crashes (that is to say my computer reboot).
So i disabled Avast! Webshield and now everything seems to work properly.
But, of course, the number of scanned files is 0.
If i activate Webshield again, the crashes start again.
Hello, during the crash (bluescreen and restart) a memory dump should be created on your disk. Most probably it would be just a small file with the most critical memory locations - a minidump. It can be located in c:\windows\minidump folder with a name: .dmp. If you can please send us a few of them via mail or upload to our anonymous ftp ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming, we might have a look on it and hopefully find the cause.
hi Lukor, tahanx for your interesting.
i have uploaded to your anonymous ftp ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming my file dump.
But there is an other anoumalous behavior:
if i surf internet with IE6 the system don’t crash, the webshield is enabled but the counter of analyzed files is always 0.
Hercules99, maybe you should activate logging in WebShield:
Edit \data\avast4.ini file
Find the section [WebScanner]
Add the line:
EnableLogging=1
Restart Web Shield in XP (terminate and start again) or whole PC in case of Win98
Browse (trying to access some webpages)
The log file are \data\log\ashwebsv.log and ashwebsv.ws.
They would be accessible when WebShield is terminated again.
Post them here or send by mail to rypacek@asw.cz
After that, disable the logging to avoid a big log file.
