Hi all,
Since a couple of months my Avast Mobile (Android) gives a warning that the webshield is turned off.
Wenn I’m solving this problem at the settings of my Samsung Tab A7 it shows that all settings in Accessibility > Installed Apps are okay. I had to switch this setting to OFF and then to ON again to solve the problem.
Later (sometimes a couple of hours, but it could also a couple of days) this issue showed up again.
I’m using Android 12, latest update July 4th 2024. No newer update is available.
It is a common occurrance that has been reported for several Samsung android devices. Theory is power saving is somehow turning off the avast permission so you have to regularly turn it off then on again. I see it after updates and sometimes in mornings.
See this old thread: Scan says Webshield off but Accessibility toggle for Avast is on
You may or may not see a notification that webshield is disabled, so to be safe check resolve Core Issues on Avast Mobile App.
Thanks Rocksteady, indeed mostly after an update or a night’s rest.
But it’s annoying.
More than annoying IMO.
After an app update the mentioned problem seems to be solved. Since a couple of weeks I don’t receive an alarm of a disabled webshield anymore.
Which version do you now have?
Asking because I recently had an app update, but also webshield off alarm as usual after.
Version 24.23.2
Take also a look in SETTINGS > Battery and device care > Graphic button (right in the top, next to the 3 dots)
This opens Care Report > Last auto-memory cleaning:
(1) First switch must be ON
(2) Switch “Close apps to free up memory” OFF
Hopefully this is your solution.
Thanks for your good clear instructions. I have done that settings change.
I will now monitor and see if that stops the webshield switch-offs in my case.
Let me know if the problem is solved
The settings in your post #7 do not apply to the Android version running on the Tablet, but did on a Samsung phone.
However, I had a warning to reinstate webshield again last night, so the setting does not appear effective in stopping the webshield switching behaviour
I’m sorry to read this.
On my Samsung tablet (Android 12) I haven’t had any warning anymore.
The only (last) advise I can give you is to switch on the automatic restart.
In SETTINGS: Battery and device care > 3 Dots (right in the top) > Automation:
(1) Auto optimise daily: ON
(2) Auto restart at set times: ON
(3) Adaptive power saving: OFF
(4) Auto scan for malware: ON
I’m not an expert on this, so telling what my tablet settings are is the only help I can give.
