My copy of avast! will not be updated.
This problem begins ± one week ago, with a message that the connection to avast! cannot be established. Now, the initialising of the update lasts indefinitely.
It is also strange that - while the automatic update feature turned on - the virus database has not been updated in 4 months.
All help is welcome!

Have you tried avast repair?..or uninstall, reboot install again and reboot
What I recommend you is to grab the manual update packages from the avast! website that can be found here: [i]http://www.avast.com/download-update[/i]
Note: No reinstallation of the program is needed for virus database updates!
If that doesn’t help just reinstall your copy of avast! but use the avast! uninstall utility that you can get from here: [i]http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility[/i]
Follow the steps and everything should be fine. If the manual update package didn’t helped doing a clean install will fix the problem. After the uninstall process use the latest setup package from the avast! website.

Hi Joey, please download a fresh copy of avast and save, then run the uninstall tool iv supplied here in safe mode for all versions of avast you’ve ever installed http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear.exe
Once completed reboot your system and reinstall avast from your saved location then register and reboot.
