avast wont give me access to the processes?

i just updated to Avast 4.8 today and it turned on the processes to automactic. well, wehn i try to make them manual (i do not want them starting up automactially everytime i reboot the PC) it gives me an “access denied” notice. is this some “new feature” in avast? cause i do not like this and there has to be a way to disable it.

Search for the problem using the Search on the avast forum or find the answer here which having the same problem as like you.

I would ask why you don’t want them to start on boot ?

avast is designed to be an on-access resident scanner and is best left that way to protect your system.

i do not need it to auto start up. i only scan my PC once in a while. i do not need it constantly on, im not a careless, desperate person who roams the internet looking for hacks/warez/porn/etc…

well i got it to do what i want it to do… so good thing for that. i dont think its a good idea to make the program take control of people’s PCs like that. i should be in charge, not the virus scanner.

The product is designed with the needs of the vast majority of its users in mind. The recent addition of the self protection feature, which appears to incur your irritation, was added to protect the majority from the clear attacks of malware on avast itself.

avast was not designed as a “on demand” scanner. If that is what you want then avast may well become more irritating and - perhaps - you may need to consider an alternative product that better meets your needs.

No, but there is malware that roams the internet looking for computers such as yours.

You can choose another antivirus, you’re not obligated to use avast

It doesn’t take control of peoples PCs, it is taking control over it own protection, to be able to protect you. Not to mention you can take back that control by disabling the self-defence module as you have and then disable whatever you want. Your system, your risk, your decision.

AHA! You will never know the “taste” of using computer without AV. There is once I had no AV(because of some problem) even i just search for something(reslove problem) which is not related with hacks/warez/porn/etc, my system was infected with virus and few trojan.
