Avast wouldn't update, now it won't install.

After updating Windows 10 on my Desktop, the action center popped up each time I booted up to tell me that Avast was not up-to-date. However, when I tried to update it in the Avast setting menu, it wouldn’t work and I got an error message. (I can’t remember what exactly the error message was now, sadly.) So I went to Avast in programs and features, and then used the fix tool which claimed Avast updated, however it still would not update from the setting menu. I then uninstalled Avast and tried to reinstall it again, but then I got the message “There was an error while completing the setup process” when I tried. After that, I used the Avastclear software in safe mode, but this still didn’t change anything; still get the same message. When I go into the setup log in the error screen, it says “Error pkgengine” and “…\AppData\Local_av_iup.tm~a07844\uat.vpx’ has invalid signature.”

I’m not really sure what to do now. I’ve run out of ideas. I have laptop with Windows 10 up-to-date on it, and Avast still works fine on it. Can someone help me figure this out, please?

Download the offline installer > https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=189836.0

Remove avast completely.
Delete all folders/files and registry entries
Reboot

Try to install avast with the offline installer.

The offline installer seemed to do the trick. Avast even checks for updates without error too. Thank you for your time and help. Keep up the good work.

Glad to hear it worked. Enjoy.
