Perhaps it’s just me, but over the years Avast seems to have gotten avastly more intrusive. I get windows popping up regularly when I’m trying to work. They aren’t warnings of suspicious activity; more often than not it’s Avast patting itself on the back and trying to sell something. I expect my antivirus program to work in the background and stay there unless my box is being attacked from the web. Has anyone else noticed this app behavior?

First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.
There isn’t much to work with here and we don’t know your Avast settings ?
Managing pop-up notifications in Avast Antivirus Premium
-
https://support.avast.com/article/antivirus-popup-notifications/#pc
-
Scroll down to Stop offers for other products.
-
If you use Avast Premium Security, you can additionally stop seeing offers for other Avast products and Personalised Discounts. ** Avast UI > Menu > Settings > General > Personal Privacy.
-
Also check the AvastUI > Menu > Settings > General - Notifications, I would suggest using the Pop-up Notifications treatment - Limited Mode.
