What OS - Spec’s and version ?
What other software is running alongside Avast to cause this high cpu usage?

windows 7 home
no other programs

Avast generally uses very little cpu or ram so there has to be something running which Avast may be scanning, is high usage periodic or constant?
You could also try running an Avast repair to see if it might cure any irregularities.

the problem was solved when I disabled in the settings of clean up of the activity

If you don’t intend to use that tool, the better option would be to remove it from the installed options within Avast.
Program and Features> Select Avast > Modify > Uncheck Clean Up
Reboot after the modification has completed.
Start using the Custom option when you install Avast or any other program and only allow those items you intend to use.
