I’ve tried using procdump in a command window run as administrator, but so far haven’t gotten a dump.
The execution of procdump looks ok to me.
C:>procdump -e -ma -t avastsvc.exe c:\avastsvc.dmp

I’ve attached an xml save of the start and stop events from the system event log. I’d be happy to try and get a proper dump for you if you can give me some additional pointers.
Did you disable avast! self-defense first? (Settings / Troubleshooting) It might be necessary.
Also, some dumps (even though not that big/comprehensive) might have been created automatically in
c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Alwil Software\Avast5\log
in the form of unpXXXXX.mdmp (X are some numbers) files.
There was just one, and I’ve uploaded it: unp248282374.tmp.mdmp. I don’t think it was associated with these crashes, since there was only one, and the date was earlier than all my testing, but maybe it will help.
Igor, any update on this? I’d like to be able to have regular scheduled full system scans, but since it crashes the service, that would leave my system unprotected.
Do you have “Spysweeper” installed on your pc?
It was this program that was causing Avast to crash during a full system scan on my machine. I uninstalled Spysweeper and have had no problems doing a full system scan since.
I was having the crash during a full scan, but only at night during a scheduled scan. I have since noticed it only happens when I use Utorrent overnight.
Are there any recent files called unpXXXXXXXX.mdmp (X are some numbers) in the folder
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Alwil Software\Avast5\log ?
If yes (the timestamp of the file should correspond to the crash), please upload it/them to ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming. Thanks.
