I’m having a rather unique problem with Avast Pro Antivirus.
My computer ran a disk check upon startup recently, which is normal. After the disk check, I started seeing an error message when I’d try to open Avast (Shown in attached photo). AvastUI.exe-Application Error
I figured that perhaps the disk check had somehow removed some important data for Avast, and that I’d have to uninstall/reinstall.
Now here is where things get strange. Trying to run any setup-related program causes a similar error message to pop up for instup.exe. Any attempt to access any setup functions in Avast are greeted with the same error message, even attempting to use the Avast Cleanup program.
Some investigation revealed the entire Avast setup folder had been compressed, as if a disk cleanup had been run (which I hadn’t anytime recently). All attempts to decompress the setup folder or any file in the setup folder are greeted with an “Access is denied” message.
This is a rather strange problem and I’m not sure how to proceed. Any help would be appreciated!
What version are you use of avast!?
What is your antivirus before you install avast!?
Any other secondary scanner?
Have you use the cleanup tool in right way?
Any other cleanup tool do you have?
Did you try repair option?and reboot the system?
Version is 10.4.2233.1299
I had no antivirus before Avast, I installed it the day I got this computer.
No secondary scanner.
Because the setup folder is locked down, any attempt to do any setup-related function with Avast results in an Application Error for instup.exe. Attempting to run the cleanup tool results in the same error.
I did try repairing, but also ran into an application error with instup.exe
I restarted and tried another disk check, to no avail. Setup folder is still locked, cannot open any Avast-related application without getting another application error.
