avastui.exe - file icon is not appear

  • file name:avastui.exe icon
  • problem: not appear correctly (I mean the graphics image)- icon appears as unknown (in: Programs File/Avast, Desktop, Taskbar (when activate Avast etc) :frowning:

Question: how to solve this problem?

  • Which avast!..?? (Free/Pro/IS)
  • Which versionā€¦??
  • OSā€¦?? (32/64 Bitā€¦? - which SPā€¦?)

  • Win 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
  • Avast! 7.0.1426 Free , english version (fresh installation )
  • Windows 7 Firewall
  • Windows Defender disable
  • not installed other security programs

Repair avast!:

  1. Control Panel ā†’ Add/Remove programs ā†’ avast!
  2. Click on ā€˜Repairā€™.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.

If this doesnā€™t help, try a clean reinstall:

  1. Download avast! Free Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
  3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

Did you run the uninstaller in safe modeā€¦??

Yes! And ā€¦ reboot my PC (twice)!!!
And clean my system (suplimentary):

  • Auslogics BoostSpeed + Ccleaner
  • manually (Avast! 7 traces): Programs Files, User and registry

Otherwise ā€¦ all work perfectly! Now I no longer installed Avast. But I want to use it.
I use Avast even if there is the problem? To leave it? Or there are other solutions to the problem above?

I mention: Avast! 6 Free does not have this problem!

Are you sure, that you didnā€™t just hide the icon by mistakeā€¦?

Yes I sure! The icon appear ā€¦ but ā€œnot appear correctly (I mean the graphics image)- icon appears as unknownā€. Icon exists, but not with icon avast ā€¦ appears as unknown (in Programs Files/Avastā€¦, Desktop and Start- Programs)!! (except taskbar, bottom, right - here is OK - Avast! icon is OK).

Have you cleared your icon cache? Maybe with Auslogics BoostSpeed?

I clean my system after uninstall Avast. Reinstal Avast, and problem persist.

Of course, I can change (manual) the shortcut files icon (right click - Properties - Change Icon) from Desktop or in ā€œStart- Programs - Avastā€, but not in Programs Files\Avast ā€¦\ avastui.exe (here avastui.exe icon appears as unknown).

OK!!! I finally solved! ;D
How? I do not know ā€¦ I have no idea!
This is a steps:

  • cleaning (again) my system with CCleaner, Auslogics BoostSpeed and manual
  • use (again) avast! uninstaller (in Normal Mode)
  • finally reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from Softpedia
  • and ā€¦ everything is / works ok ;D

Now:

  • after reinstall and settings avast! restart my PC
  • if I delete shortcut ā€œAvastUI.exeā€ from Desktop problem reappears
    Why? Why if delete shortcut ā€œAvastUI.exeā€ from Desktop, icon ā€œAvastUI.exeā€ of ā€œC:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\AvastUI.exeā€ (and Start - Programs, etc) appear unknown (just the graphics image - functionality remains ok).

Anyway, after clean reinstal (and not delete from Desktop AvastUI shortcut) everything OK.
Just only one small problem: startup my PC is a little slower (but negligible this).
