Ensure that the web shield is enabled, that is what would be giving you the warnings.

What is your OS?
-
What is your firewall? - does it allow ashWebSv.exe access to the internet?

Easy way to confirm this is by visiting any of these links.

There is of course a possibility that there is no longer a virus in waiting at the url. However visiting sites like those you mentioned that are designed to circumvent software protection, etc. is likely to put you at risk, not to mention it may be against the law ;D
thank u david r !i just visited the links and got the alert !im using win xp sp2 and the windows firewall is that ok?i dont want to loose sys resources?am i protected?
With the windows firewall you aren’t adequately protected as there isn’t full outbound protection. So should you get infected (first day virus, exploit, etc.) there is nothing to stop the malware phoning home with your personal data, usernames/passwords, etc. not to mention downloading more of the same.
Zone Alarm firewall (free) is a relatively friendly user interface.
is it sys resources killer?
Zone Alarm for me doesn’t consume alot of my resources. Depends how much RAM you still have left.
im using M1.5ghz ,512RAM.
Could be what David post. Anyway, while visiting this kind of sites I’ll really set the sensitivity to High (regardless the loss of system resources) and use an antispyware (resident if possible).
Then try another one, but you need outbound protection.
There will always be a performance V Protection issue, but if you check your system for programs that start on boot (when they don’t need to, media players, etc.), you should be able to reduce resource load.
Bearing in mind the locations that you have been visiting, you probably have lots of scope for reducing resource load.
i have some entries on start up that i want to stop, like nerocheck and XPFix.have any info on them?
Nerocheck is ok to be deleted. Better, move the link to a folder of your choice if you want it back.
XPFix? Can you post the name of the application started with this item?
@ algr8t
I would have find that info on google, so I suggest you start there.
If you know you want to stop them just untick the entry on the msconfig, startup tab. That will stop them but leave the entry there in case you want to start it if it has an adverse effect.
msconfig > c:\program files\Globespanvitara\xpfix.exe. when i ctrl+alt+del i see NMBgMonitor.exe ,xpfix.exe.what are these processes? thank u for your time!
Sorry, as I said off the top of my head I don’t know and I would have to do a google.com search, which you can do too.
