Hi Everyone,
After scratching my head for a month with assorted BSOD’s (since getting rid of avg + installing avast) I had to call in a Mr.pc-fixit today. I’d already checked avg completely gone. He told me that with a wireless connection I don’t need a zone alarm firewall. So apart from feeling like a right 'nana I’m back with a windows firewall which I’ve never used before. In the exceptions, I noticed avg’s had a check so I unchecked them, clicked on add and added ‘avast!antivirus’.
Just wanted to check if that’s correct? Or should I uninstall and reinstall avast as I don’t want to see the BSOD’s ever again
Thanks
If the router does not have a firewall, this is not true. Although, if you keep Windows Firewall you’ll be quite protected also.
Neither of both need to be an exception into Windows firewall to work.
AVG Remover can be downloaded here: http://www.avg.com/download-tools
After that, you can repair your installation:
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
