background scanning slowing my computer with videos

I just installed the program and after successful install i’m noticing a slow down on my computer with playing videos and programs. I think the background scanning is slowing my computer.

How do I not have the program continually scan taking up resources while playing videos etc. Gets annoying when the mouse icon turn to hourglass every few seconds…

Have you tried to set an exclusion for the folder containing the video you are playing? The background scanner has a very small resource footprint, but have you tried completely dialing one or more the the scanners (Shields) to see if your performance improves?
