Bank Mode Not Loading (Downloading Proxy Script)

Is there a problem with ASB - Bank Mode this morning? I use it daily so the last time I was in Bank Mode was yesterday. I have tried several methods to open it but it just freezes indicating “Downloading Proxy Script” in the lower left corner.

  • Tried opening it using Settings>New Bank Mode Window
  • Tried opening it using Settings>Security & Privacy Center>Bank Mode>Open
  • Tried opening it by right clicking Avast Premium Security> Run Bank Mode (in the Task Bar)

Currently running:
Avast Secure Browser is up to date
Version 77.2.2154.121 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Can you please go to the settings menu in the top right corner → Help and About Avast Secure Browser → Click on Diagnostic Information and copy and paste the details here? I am unable to reproduce the behaviour.

All is well this morning. Possible server issue yesterday? Sorry for the false alarm but getting an update error. Dumped my cache and ran all scans yesterday.

An error occurred while checking for updates: Update check failed to start (error code 3: 0x80080005 – system level).

Glad to hear the bank mode problem was solved. Regarding the update issue, is this still happening today? As the version you have is the latest browser version.

a French user has the same update problem with the same “error code 3: 0x80080005 – system level”, obviously since the recent upgrade to version 81.0.

He has just tried to reinstall using the tool and checking that the windows services are in good condition, see the message from Gulnara A.
Unfortunately the problem is still present.
Thanks from him

A small precision, the problem of the error message following the attempts to update the secure browser comes from avast free 20.3.
Indeed the updates are correctly done when the antivirus is in passive mode or when it is uninstalled.
I told him to uninstall the avast free by the tool in safe mode and install the latest version “offline” (ditto for the browser)…but the error appears again after that.
