Behavior Shield killing computer

I just terminated Behavior Shield and set it off permanently as it was using >50% cpu and making fan run constantly. What is it and why is it wrecking performance?

  • Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
  • Which version…?
  • OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
  • Other security related software installed…?
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

For me it isn’t killing my system but loading web pages takes seems like it takes forever.
Disabling or removing the shield makes the loading of the pages faster.

Avast Free, latest update. Win10, latest update. Only had Avast & MBAM installed since I built the laptop but no problems until yesterday.

Repair Avast:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → Avast
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.

Did the repair, switched Behavior back on and everything except File System off (since MBAM cover Web & Email) then restarted. All ok so far. Thanks for the help.

You’re welcome.

I don’t believe MBAM coverage of Web is a patch on the avast Web Shield.

Your slowdown may very well be MBAM.
Although I have the paid version, I run it strictly on demand because
the latest version of MBAM is a system hoag. :o

OT: Agreed Bob, that’s why I dropped MBAM a while ago.
