Behaviour shield causing application to go slow

I have a program called ProntoProEdit NG that I have been using for many years.

It Reads and Writes .pcf files, these a essentially ZIP files renamed. However since installing Avast I noticed that it was about 10 times slower accessing these files.

I eventually found disabling the behaviour shield fixed the problem, however when slowing the program down the shield showed no activity.

No matter where I try putting the program or its files in the exclusions I cannot get the performance to improve except for stopping the Behaviour shield.

Ideas anyone?

Cheers

I’d need a few more details to try to simulate the problem.
What operating system are you using?
What version of ProntoProEdit? I managed to find and download version 2.1.8 from http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/files/rcfiles.cgi?kw=ProntoProEditNG_v2.1.8.zip . Is that the correct program?

Also, how are you disabling the Behavior Shield? Just by turning it off in the GUI? No reboot or anything necessary - simply turning it off resolves the problem immediately?

Thanks
Vlk

My OS is Windows XP pro SP3

And yes I am just going into Real Time Shields and turning off the behaviour shield, no reboot etc.

That is the software I am using.

Here is a link to the .pcf file I am trying to open http://homepage.ntlworld.com/baz_8755/Baz RU990.pcf
