Installed ADNMvB2 Friday evening and started to use it today. This is the version using the SQL DB. The first thing I did was to run the discovery task to re-create the DB. I noticed two things. First it did not create my domains in the computer catalog even though that option is checked in the detection screen. It did find all the systems and put them into the dynamic group that is for systems without agents (which is correct as I removed the old network client per the readme previous to the network install).
Second when navigating the folder structure you can click on any of the choices and it will update the right panes with the new selection however after highlighting your selection briefly in the folder section the highlight will go back to the discovery tasks folder but the information in the right panes will stay with your most recent selection.

So this is an existing MS SQL 2000 you’re using (the full version)?
How did you delete the old database? Did you “drop” it?
Because the database structure changed; if you didn’t recreate the DB from the scratch you may have very serious problems…!

I don’t quite understand… Was the word “briefly” relevant?
Are you saying that to whichever folder in the console you navigate, it will automatically display the contents of the discovery tasks folder?
Yes to both I am using MS SQL 2000 as the db back end and I did “drop” the db prior to install and started from scratch.

No it displays the contents of the folder I navigated to but the highlighted folder will always go back to being the discovery folder. In other words if I click on Computer Catalog I get the contents of Computer Catalog but the Discovery Tasks folder is the one highlighted (selected).
First it did not create my domains in the computer catalog even though that option is checked in the detection screen.
Can you create groups in the catalog manually… I suspect this was an insufficient-rights problem…?
Is there anything in the file \data\log\error.log? (if it exists)

That sounds really odd. Does this happen even if you restart the console? Can you post a screenshot?
Restarting the console didn’t help however rebooting the server has cleared up both of the problems. It has introduced a new problem though. The management service did not start, the following are the errors from the avast admin log. It did start when I manually started it after the boot however.

I am going to try another reboot and see what happens.
