Big Bug ! avast! doesn't update anymore with win98se

I’ve a big problem since last update of the program :

  • the cpu charge is always 100%
  • impossible to update program and vps

I tryed to uninstall completely avast! and download last version on your site (setupfrepro.exe)

Start installing and again :

  • cpu 100%
  • installation program very slow and finally almost blocked at “vps” : 1% every 4min :stuck_out_tongue:

conclusion, I don’t have antivirus anymore >:( >:( >:(

Please alwil team correct this bug ! it’s urgent !
and tell me what to do to reinstall properly…

I have the same problem. I am running Windows 98 and cannot update today. It keeps stalling at 50% complete.

Please let me know if it is not compatible with Window 98, as I will have to do something else.

Untill now, avast was fully compatible with win98… but in last update, they seem to have rewritten the code of their program (cf vlk’s message in beta topic)

i finally managed to reinstall avast! (via setupfrepro.exe file) running my pc in “safe mode” (F8 at boot). The install completed, but the update doesn’t seem to work properly… I hope alwil team will find a solution… at least, i have recovered a protection even the vps will soon be too old… :-\ :cry:

Sure, we’re working on it. Another update will be released later tonight, fixing this…
