Binkiland

I just downloaded and installed Open Office. Unfortunately, something called Binkiland appears to have hijacked my browser. I can’t see the normal homepage and it actually changed some of my google settings. I tried to uninstall that but it blocks me from doing so with a pop up that says to close all open binkiland pages, and when I close the pop up, it won’t let me proceed with the uninstall.

How do I get rid of this, and more importantly, why am I paying you, Avast, when you didn’t get rid of this threat?

because it is not a threat, but some crap that comes bundled with free downloads you installed it, probably because you missed a opt out check mark

this crap is classed as PUP = not malware / Possible Unwanted Program
avast PUP detection is default off, except for in boot scan, so if you want pup detection, turn it on

some of these pup can be a pain to remove, if you want help follow instructions

see here https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
attach Malwarebytes and Farbar Recovery Scan Tool log

Essexboy will then assist you when he is back online tomorrow…

Note:
Sun isn’t exactly developing Open Office anymore.
You better get/use Libre Office.
