Bitser version 1.2

Hello there,

The latest freeware version of Bitser, version 1.2 from http://www.bitser.org/download_zip.shtml is being detected by Avast as malware. Ive submit a false positive to Avast but Id like to know how long it normally takes to resolve false positives. Its been about a week now and I’m wondering if there is anything that can be done to speed up the process.

Many thanks

What malware does avast say it is?

They usually respond quick, but depends on avast lab work load
How did you send/report it?

Could be params detection on Free zip and backup software for windows download.
See website security header warnings here: https://asafaweb.com/Scan?Url=www.bitser.org%2Fdownload_zip.shtml
Take that up with whoever hosts that website.
This source is certainly malware: https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/bitser.findmysoft.com?utm_source=addon&utm_content=popup

It was reported via their web form but I guess seeing as its Christmas there maybe some delay.
I don’t quite understand how a digitally signed exe file that can’t be tampered with can be classified as malware when no other scan engine reports the file and the checksum has not changed. Bitser actually uses Virustotal.com’s web api to allow scanning of files from Window’s explorer context menu.

The report below just reports it as generic malware.
