Blocked by group policy - files attached

Hi -I see this is posted about a bit. I started noticing an error message about a file not being found/running and it looked suspicious. Googled the names and nothing came up. If I delete the folder in the description it comes back.

So I try to run malware bytes and avast and both say they are blocked by group policy.

I have run FRST64 and files are attached.

If anyone can help I would be grateful. I am sorry to come asking for help for first post.

Hi there before we start could you do me a favour

Locate the following folder :

C:\ProgramData\NusgUsapu

This will be a hidden folder

Follow these steps to display hidden files and folders.

1.Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Folder Options.
2.Click the View tab.
3.Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK.

The programData folder will now be visible
Once you have located the folder right click it and select send to … Compressed (zipped folder)
Save it your desktop
Then upload to a file sharing site e.g. Mediafire https://www.mediafire.com/ and post the sharing link for me to collect

CAUTION : This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer

Save this as fixlist.txt, in the same location as FRST.exe

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/73555776/FRSTfix.JPG

Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that

I have also seen (in the FRST text file) this entry:

HKU\S-1-5-21-2377740197-1224132956-2514490625-1000.…\Run: [NusgUsapu] => regsvr32.exe “C:\ProgramData\NusgUsapu\MequXtuwe.awi”

That was the file that was producing an error when I started machine and windows started. That is what prompted me to run a scan and see vast was blocked. Not sure if useful…but just in case.

Ah - sorry just missed your post as I posted the last one. I will follow the instructions - thanks

Ta, I am curious as to what that file does. As to date I have been unable to locate the dropper that does the registry change

OK - slight problem. I still get the error about that file and folder, but the folder is no longer there. I deleted using MOVEONBOOT earlier as I thought it looked suspicious. I assumed it had not worked as I got the error still, but it has gone.

Also - I can run AVAST in safe mode.

Run the fix then as that will remove the launch entry

After the fix has run and rebooted Avast will start normally

Fixed. Many thanks.

What was it?

Not sure as I have been unable to get a dropper, I suspect it will attempt to run a pay per click malware

How is the computer behaving now ?

Seems fine so far. No other issues. Thanks for heads up on IOBIT too.

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

: Keep Java Updated :

WARNING: Java is the #1 exploited program at this time. The Department of Homeland Security recommends that computer users disable Java
See this article

I would recommend that you completely uninstall Java unless you need it to run an important software.
In that instance I would recommend that you disable Java in your browsers until you need it for that software and then enable it. (See How to diasble Java in your web browser and How to unplug Java from the browser)

If you do need to keep Java then download JavaRa
Run the programme and select Remove Java Runtime. Uninstall all versions of Java present
Once done then run it again and select Update Java runtime > Download and install Latest version
