Howdy Folks!
Been using avast! for about a month. First loaded it on a WinME machine. Bought a new XP machine and downloaded 4.6. After about 2 weeks with no problems, suddenly I was no longer able to download e-mail. I tried with 3 different e-mail clients, not suspecting avast! at all. Finally, I did a complete item-by-item elimination process. As soon as I disabled avast!, the e-mails tumbled down.
What happened? What might I have done unknowingly? What option do I need to disable or enable?
I’m running avast! as an e-mail checker and run Grisoft AVG 7.0.322 with avast! 4.6 on WinXP V5 SP-2 Build 2600 . . . .
Any help would be appreciated. I really like the speed afforded by avast!

Forgot to add that my primary e-mail client is Mozilla Thunderbird. I only use OE or Outlook if forced to. My browser is Firefox.
Tks again,

running two virus software programs together will cause conflicts. You’ll have to decide between the two. I do know a few people here have been able to run AVG and Avast together but you would have to speak with them as to how they do so. It is something for advanced users to deal with
If it were me , I would uninstall AVG and I betcha Avast would work fine for you.
Bob, until last AVG version the both email scanners could run togheter into XP.
Last update changed AVG email scanner as far I could notice and both (avast and AVG) became incompatible in some situations.
Better is to disable one of them. In my opinion, AVG, so I did this 8)
