will avast block/notify of malicious registry changes
from unknown threats installing on computer
i need to know if i am protected from this behavior
What sort of registry changes are you concerned about ?
there many malicious registry changes that malware can do
there so many locations like startup/network / others
Avast will block those that it knows about or triggers either deepscreen or hardened mode

All registry changes are done when the executable file runs, so in hardened mode or deepscreen it will be in an effective sandbox initially and if it is known malware it will not be able to run. Hence registry changes will be blocked. However for unknown malware or anything that manages to pass the other filters then the registry changes will occur
