Blue Light Icon Problem

What I am using: I am using the latest edition of Avast! Ad with Win XP and IE6. I just finished a full system restore and my only other resident scanner/protection is Webroot Spysweeper through my ISP MSN. I have 5 email addresses added through the MSN Explorer Mail tab but only one is a POP mail address.

What the problem is: I continue to get a Blue Light Icon that pops up in the tray and is NOT clickable (right or left). I have repaired the system using the Add/Remove Programs in control Panel. I am also unable to get search results from sites that have advanced People search such as Member directory on MSN and Yahoo. I have tried shutting down all forms of resident protection on both Programs and even fully shut them off. Changes as to search results but the blue light does stop coming up in the tray. No, this is not the “I” icon that I have merged with the main “A” icon. This displays a tag when you place the cursor on it with something like “pop1003.webtv.net…”

Questions:

  1. Are the 2 problems related (light and search)?
  2. Is there a resident Shield still in place after Avast! has ran at Start-up but been shut off through the tray icon?
  3. Why is only the Member Directory Search of personal names and sights effected?
  4. How do I learn what the Blue Light Icon is trying to make me aware of if it isn’t clickable?

Sounds like you see the mail provider at work. Nothing to worry about.
