I just Bought Avast! PRO ANTI-VIRUS today. And it seems to work fine untill i do any kind of scanning. About 5-10 minutes in the scan, i get the blue screen. I am begining to think i just wasted my money on this junk.
I have Windows 7 64bit
6GB RAM
Intel Core i3-2310M
what other security programs do you have installed?
AVG PC Tuneup 2011. But like i said, it seems to work fine untill i start a scan of anykind.

Umm, i can’t find it anywhere in the windows folder.
Then you should compress \Windows\memory.dmp file (rar/7z) and upload it on our ftp site, i’ll look at it why your computer crashed.
I went to \Windows folder and i dont see any memory.dmp file either.

These steps lead to create a memory dump:
Ok i made a new Key under that location. It wouldn’t let me rename it, it was set to (Default) so under value i put C:\dedicateddumpfile.sys
Ok, i tried scanning again, but now it won’t give me a blue screen anymore. It just slows my pc so much that i can’t hardly do anything.
On the scan progress area, The elapsed time continues to tick, the scan speed slowly drops, and everything else is stuck.
I’d probably try to run a disk check including a surface scan; the problem might (not saying it is, but might) be related to a HDD error.
oh well, here is what i have done so far…
Ran Windows Disk Check… no problems found
Ran Windows Memory Diagnostic tool… no problems found
Ran AVG disk repair… no problems found
Ran AVG registry repair… Repaired a few registry errors
After all of that it still happens when i scan. It has never done this untill i installed AVAST! PRO ANTI-VIRUS
