Hi!
I tried searching the FAQ and forums for an answer to my question, but found none. I use Windows XP with Windows SFU (Services For Unix), and use it to mount the NFS shares of my linux router/firewall/server. I recently installed Avast! 4 Home and really liked it. Just one problem, every time i try to access my NFS shares in any file manager (not just Windows Explorer) XP instantly delivers a bluescreen, and I have to reboot.
Since the initial access to the NFS shares actually takes a few seconds (after the first directory listing, it is as fast as accessing from a nix OS) and actually seems to be a completely blocking call (the file manager freezes completely as it waits for access), I suspected that the resident protection tried to access the share, did not care much for waiting for access, and therefore crashed and caused the bluescreen. I tried to solve this by attempting to exclude \ and the like from being scanned by the resident protection, but apparently I failed, because it kept crashing on me.
I don’t need to (and actually don’t want to!) have my NFS shares scanned by Avast!, since I trust the content on my server. I couldn’t find any option to disable the scanning of network drives (or preferrably specifically NFS shares). How to fix this problem? Because I really like your AV program, and might buy it if I am still happy after a while of free use.
Thanks for a good product!
