My PC is infected by a virus which shows up as boot.exe along with a autorun.inf file which reads
[Autorun]
Shellexecute=Boot.exe e
Shell\Open\Command = Boot exe.e
Shell = Open
The executable file Boot.exe is placed on e drive (now on s drive also which is a removable drive), pen drive and floppys.
Avast couldnt detect it. But Norton did, when i Used my Pen drive on another PC. It reported the virus as a Win 32 type.
How do i get rid of it from my PC?
Can you send the file for analysis? Send the sample to virus@avast.com
You can zip and password the files… Inform a link to this thread and the password used.
You can send the files to Chest and, from there, resend to Alwil for analysis.
Thanks.
How are you using avast and Norton in the same computer?
Did you try antitrojan cleaners?
AVGas (a.k.a. ewido), a-squared?
Thanks. I downloaded the files from Trend Micro and succeeded in getting rid of the virus.
The name of the virus was identified as ‘I-Worm/Brontok.DN’ by Norton.

Great. I’m glad things are back to normal for you.
I assume you mean the online House Call scan which is fine.
If you mean the regular security product, PC-Cillin, don’t have both that and avast! on your computer at the same time as conflicts will occur. My preference, of course, is avast! as it is much lighter on resources.
